so, back on august 24th (and yes, i'm lame - you'll have to scroll down because i really have absolutely no idea how to link a post from the past), i told you about a journal swap that i am hosting all because of this lovely girl. (hopefully no-one is tired of hearing about her b/c she's one of my very besties and i can't help it). . . . . .
mine is lovingly known as 'vintage souvenir journal swap #2'. not too original, i know - but hey - why mess with a good thing ? the basics are the same. same size. same number of pages and participants. same lovely ephemera and all that jazz.
i had shown my basic construction of my first attempt at a page, and although the main ingredients are all still there (because i didn't want to disappoint my swapping sisters and change things up) i couldn't help but add more little bits and pieces to it. it needed more 'umph' and more dimension.
and i don't want to give it all away, but here are two little sneak peeks of the whole grouping on the kitchen table - glimmer mist drying and all
and because i am an over-achiever and i reallllllly want these gals, whom i've never met, to like me - i decided to design another page. and another. three ? really ? yep - over-achiever.
but then reality struck and time's-a-running-out. and i had a mental block on a page that needed more - i decided to combine # 2 and #3 together and came up with (what i think) is a cool page.
now, i won't go showing off the parts of these pages, because i want to keep a bit of this a surprise for my swapping sisters, but i will tell you that i had a fun time with my sewing machine.
the sewing machine that is so heavy i can barely lift - but it was my dads. now, we don't know how long he owned this, or where he got it (prob. a yard sale) but when i was debating whether or not to give this one away and buy a newer version, or keep it, i decided to spend my money and get this one cleaned up and working. oh - it worked before, but not all that well. and the light bulb was burned out. and when i decide to sew at midnight, it was hard to see.
so here is a little peek-a-boo of the lace trim i sewed to the edge of the cover page - using a zig zag stitch and all - boy did i feel the power ! (don't tell anyone that i don't think i will EVER change the thread color from white to something else because my 7th grade home-ec sewing how to memory cells are gone, and i may not get it threaded right again -(( jackie, stop laughing)) until my dear sister whose name is jackie comes to visit again)
now, only 15 covers to make and then constructing the books to take with me to silver bella.
and a crown to make
and vendor items to get together to sell
and an altered bottle to make
and an altered cigar box to fill with goodies and alter
oh my - so much to do- and yet i can hardly wait. what is sleep again ?
may your day be filled with abundant blessings - jill
Knowing that you've sewn on your dad's machine makes it all the more special! I can't WAIT -- truly cannot. wait. -- to see the finished journals! Your pages are gorgeous!

Okay, you KNOW after seeing my pages that I am in love with yours---vintage pattern images!!! Hooray for them!!
And, I can already tell you that I don't have to wait until I meet you @ Silver Bella to know that I like ya. I can tell that already!
However, of course I am looking forward to talking to you face-to-face and you will find with me with Hope, your matchbox swap partner. We live just a few minutes apart and are two members of a "group" known as the Indiana Girls who drive all the way to Omaha. Okay, that came off cliquey, but it simply is a way to identify the 4 of us from Bloomington, Indiana...We love to meet new people @ Silver Bella. So no cliqueness here!
