i can hardly believe it - that my quest for less is working.
baby steps - but working !
although i haven't made much progress in the garage except taking down the 'walls' from the boutique sales (because Mark wanted to park his truck in the garage again. . . . funny man) i have made a lot of progress in other areas.
remember my last post and the (embarrasing) photo of my desk ?
no joke - this is what it looks like right now.
yesterday i woke up with a migraine and my meds didn't kick in until after church started so i spent the day in my jammies and attacked the desk. i was overwhelmed by grabbing a few papers here and there so i dumped everything in a laundry basket and started sorting. everything went into category piles (coupons, recycling, girl scout paperwork, cards, ephemera, lace . . . . you name it - it was on the table) and then i put everything away - where it belonged. the only exception was some lace that joined other lace in a 'needs to be sorted' box. i am so proud of myself.
now let's hope i can keep it this way for longer than a week.
i also cleaned out my in-box and deleted over 300 e-mails that i no longer need. that felt good.
and i unsubscribed to some e-mails i get where i'm on a mailing list. some of these i have no idea how i got on the list - and usually just delete them without even reading - but i had an ephiphany. what if i didn't even get the e-mail in the first place - then i wouldn't waste time in going through them !
then i sorted coupons - which is something i really want to get back into. when we were first married, i planned our weekly menus around coupons because we were so tight in our budget. i remember once having about $25 for the week left after bills were paid and we still hadn't done any grocery shopping. man was i creative ! as the years have progressed, the use of coupons has wained - but why not use them ? if i'm already purchasing the product, i might as well save a dollar or two. as time goes on, i might even write myself a check for he amount i save and put in a little coupon jar. it would be fun to see what i've saved at the end of the year.
so this weeks projects ? i'd love to get to the three boxes of items that need to be priced for my antiques booth so i can take them in on wednesday. i'll keep you updated.
in other non-organizing-but-fun-news, i participated in a fun Vintage Heart Swap with Danielle from the Vintage Dragonfly. i shipped off my package today and will show you pictures next week when they've all been mailed. i hope whoever gets my heart likes it. i made it very simple in muted colors with a hint of pink. very subtle.
now i have a Fabric Collage to make for a swap hosted by A Swap for All Seasons and a Petite Inspiration Box for a little swap four Silver Bella Sisters decided to do. i'll be busy with paper and glue this weekend, but i love it.
until the next update - may your day be filled with blessings ~ jill
